The PROJECT

No matter your age, there’s just something cool about LEGO. We were fortunate to get the contract to complete a commercial electrical renovation for the Dreamworld LEGO store in Coomera on the Gold Coast. With over 17 years in the electrical industry, BDJ Electrical has worked to develop a name that commercial and industrial clients can count on.

The Objective

BDJ Electrical was contracted to complete commercial lighting installations and electrical upgrades, such as installation of interactive screens. As discussed with our client, Dreamworld, our target was to have the store ready with the new commercial lighting and fit-outs before the summer holidays. This gave us a timeframe of only 4 weeks, with the work needing to be completed outside of business hours.

The Challenges

Our biggest challenge was to navigate the tight schedule and limited work access to specific areas, especially when slab chasing was required. The project had to be completed within the scheduled deadline while meeting the COVID19 vaccination and precautionary requirements. We also had to collaborate with multiple stakeholders and other trade contractors involved in the renovations to ensure delivery went smoothly.

The site was also near a live park and a busy retail area, hence there had to be minimal disruption to the public and the employees in the area.

The Solution

Since we were aware of the challenges prior to commencing work, we were meticulous in understanding customer requirements and the pre-planning. The delivery schedule and the working hours were arranged according to the client’s schedule, with the materials and equipment ready for us before the work began.

Final Thoughts

We’re proud of the excellent teamwork and coordination our crew showed despite the involvement of multiple shareholders and tradesmen. We delivered high-quality commercial electrical work within the given schedule and had the store’s electrical work completed before the summer holidays.
