The PROJECT

BDJ Electrical was contracted to complete an fitout with LED lighting design for a new surfboard factory located in Tweed Heads. The LED lighting upgrade would help them improve the quality of their work, allowing them to better see imperfections in products.

The Objective

We were contracted to create a factory lighting design and power system, installing LED light fixtures to suit the updated factory layout. The project duration was 4 weeks in which we had to strip the old system and install new wiring and an updated distribution board.

The main reason for the fitout was because the client wanted quality commercial LED ceiling light fixtures with daylight colour for improved work processes. The lighting would help the workers to spot product defects and imperfections.

After stripping out the existing services, we installed new electrical lighting, circuits and wiring, connecting them to the distribution board. We carried out thorough testing for safety, ensuring optimum functionality and visibility with the finished product.

The Challenges

When working on new builds and fitouts, the main challenge is often meeting timelines and coordinating with the other tradies involved in the project. We were able to coordinate and work around the construction and accessibility issues to install the new wiring, circuits and lighting within 4 weeks.

The Solution

We accessed the factory’s layout, communicating with the other workers to align our electrical work according to the layout changes. It allowed us to produce a custom design and arrange all the materials and equipment we needed for the project. We got to work on schedule removing the old services and installing a brand new, safe LED lighting system with upgraded power for the factory.

Final Thoughts

We’re proud of the way we collaborated with the other trades involved in the project, which resulted in completing the project on time and within the allocated budget. We were able to provide the client with top quality lighting and electrical facilities to manage production and operations.
